Ruiz, who was drafted by the Saints in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, suffered his knee injury during the Week 6 win over the New York Giant in which he exited the game late in the second quarter and did not return. A former

Michigan standout, Ruiz has become a reliable contributor on New Orleans' offensive line, starting 14 games in 2025 and all six games through Week 6 of the 2026 season.

Shepherd, who joined the Saints as a free agent in 2023 after spending five seasons with the New York Jets (2018-2022) , has previously missed Weeks 5 and 6 with an illness. Through four games in 2026, Shephard has recorded 12 tackles and 0.5 sacks.
