According to reports and the video below, it appears that Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy suffered an ankle injury at some point toward the end of the first half. According to NFL reporter Jordan Schultz, McCarthy spent halftime getting treatment in the blue medical tent. McCarthy is back on the sidelines in the second half and continues to coach.
McCarthy was hired by the Steelers early in the offseason after former head coach Mike Tomlin stepped down after the season ended. McCarthy is a Pittsburgh native and a future Hall of Fame head coach after a long, successful career with the Green Bay Packers.
The Steelers have struggled all game long to keep pace with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Going into halftime, the Steelers trailed the Bucs
13-3 and were unable get any points on the opening drive of the second half to close the gap.
