The Pittsburgh Steelers saw quite a few important players on their Week 2 injury report, including one tight end who was absent for the first few practices. But this massive human being may have a perfectly acceptable excuse for sitting out.
Recently on social media, it was revealed that the Steelers' 6-foot-7, 300-plus-pound tight end Darnell Washington and his wife, Estefany, had welcomed their fourth child and first son into the world on Wednesday, September 16. This is when Washington missed his first practice and is all but guaranteed to be the reason why he wasn't available on Thursday, either. Washington, who was drafted by the Steelers in the third round
of the 2023 NFL Draft, has emerged as one of the top blocking tight ends in the league, in addition to being a dangerous pass catcher.
While Washington's availability on Friday will be something to monitor, the outstanding athlete should still suit up for the Week 2 matchup against the New England Patriots.
