The Pittsburgh Steelers may have a huge injury decision to make with Michael Pittman Jr., as one insider discussed what the future may hold for the veteran wide receiver.
Speaking with 93.7 The Fan, Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo hinted that Pittman could be placed on injured reserve as soon as 24 hours before the Week 5 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.
“Yeah, I mean, the way [Mike] McCarthy made it sound yesterday, they could place him on IR," Fittipaldo said via Blitzburgh. "If they do, I think they'll make that move tomorrow, Joe. They can make all kinds of roster moves ahead of games. You sometimes see teams do that on Saturdays, so that's something fans should keep an eye on tomorrow.”
Pittman, who was traded from the Indianapolis
Colts to the Steelers in March 2026, was solid for Pittsburgh in the 2026 season opener, leading the team with 58 receiving yards. Pittman, however, was ruled out in Week 2 after suffering a foot injury, and despite returning one game later, he didn't appear to be playing at 100%.
Pittman, who was later spotted with his foot propped up on a scooter, was confirmed to miss multiple weeks with his foot injury, which is why Fittipaldo believes an injured reserve stint is coming soon.
We at Steelers Wire will keep an eye on the team's potential IR decision that could come as soon as Saturday, which would leave Pittman missing Weeks 5 through 8.
