As the Pittsburgh Steelers prepare for the Week 1 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, one huge question remains: will Joey Porter Jr. play, or will he sit out?
Porter returned to practice after being activated off the physically unable to perform list, but questions still remain as to whether the young cornerback will suit up for the Steelers without a long-term extension.
When asked about potentially playing out his rookie deal without a new contract, Porter claimed that he'd speak with his agents about that decision, as he was unsure. However, Porter added more uncertainty about sitting out when another reporter asked if he'd play if healthy, to which he responded, "Yeah, for sure, maybe."
This is hardly what the Steelers want to hear from Porter
one week away from the start of the regular season, especially when the team refuses to negotiate contracts midseason.
The Steelers will meet on Monday to begin preparation for the regular season opener against the Falcons, which could give us a better idea as to Porter's Week 1 availability.
