Over an NFL season, some of the world's most electric athletes make absolutely incredible catches. So when a wide receiver hauls in a pass that garners "play of the year" consideration, you know they've done something special.
But it's hard not to look at Justin Jefferson's jaw-dropping touchdown reception against the New Orleans Saints today and not think that it is a serious 'play of the year' contender. After all, how else do you describe a receiver high-pointing a ball in triple coverage in the back corner of the end zone to come away with a touchdown pass? And yes, you read that correctly.
The star Vikings wideout caught a third-quarter pass from Kyler Murray on Sunday, but three defenders covered him and left him with little room to make
a play on the ball, since the pass landed in the back-left corner of the end zone. But that didn't stop him from making a massive play that helped change the game for his team; check out the reception footage below.

How Jefferson's touchdown reception changed the game for the Minnesota Vikings
When Murray launched the touchdown pass to Jefferson, the Vikings were in danger of their first loss of the season, trailing the New Orleans Saints 7-6. But the touchdown pass helped push the Vikings ahead 13-7. From there, the Vikings never trailed again. The Saints would tie the game with a defensive touchdown, but with the offensive momentum on their side, the Vikings added 10 more points to win 23-13.
Murray's touchdown catch was a pivotal moment that could have slipped away from Minnesota, but instead it became their fifth straight win as they opened the season undefeated. Jefferson led the offense in receiving yards, hauling in six receptions for 79 yards. With him healthy again after missing Week 4 with an injury, Minnesota's offense should keep improving.
