After sustaining a concussion against the Green Bay Packers in their season opener, the Minnesota Vikings have ruled out starting quarterback Kyler Murray for their matchup versus the Chicago Bears.

Murray only played in the first quarter against Green Bay. He left the game having completed three of his five pass attempts for 18 yards, as well as throwing an interception. Minnesota did not score during the entire game he played, and they scored all their points with backup quarterback Carson Wentz in. Wentz finished the game with 133 passing yards and three touchdowns, two of which were to two-time All-Pro Justin Jefferson.
With Murray out, Wentz will now start against the Bears. This will be his first start since he played in five games for the Vikings in September and October last season. Minnesota went 2-3 in those games. In his career, Wentz has never lost to Chicago, but he also hasn't faced them since the 2022 season, when he was the quarterback for the Washington Commanders.
Because the Detroit Lions lost Week 2 to the Buffalo Bills and the Green Bay Packers lost their opener to the Vikings, this game carries added importance for both teams. Whoever wins this game will take sole possession of the NFC North.
