On paper, the Rams-Dolphins swap of Tutu Atwell and Jarquez Hunter might seem inconsequential from a fantasy perspective. But here's how both could be relevant in 2026.
Atwell reunites with a Rams team that drafted him three months after acquiring Matthew Stafford. He knows this offense and this system. While he rarely flashed as a secondary or tertiary receiving option, the door is open for a larger-than-expected role.
All-world wideout Puka Nacua faces the looming prospect of a suspension, while Davante Adams has missed three games in each of the past two seasons and will turn 34 in December. There's a reasonable probability that one of them will miss at least two games, enabling Atwell, Jordan Whittington, or Konata Mumpfield to serve as the #2
WR. There's a slimmer-yet-realistic possibility that Atwell could replicate or even improve on his 42-562 receiving line from 2024.
Despite an entirely undraftable ADP of overall-598 / WR207, he would secure deep-league relevance if he wins the #3 job.
As for Hunter, what was Miami thinking? Don't they already have De'Von Achane under contract for four years, Jaylen Wright for two, and Ollie Gordon for three? One could argue that Hunter (overall-386 / RB92 ADP) has nowhere to go but down.
I see it differently. The Dolphins had no reason to acquire a running back that they fully intend to make inactive on game days. Hunter is a former college bell cow and 2025 fourth-round draft pick who's had a strong camp. Perhaps Miami isn't sold on Wright or Gordon assuming an outsized role if Achane is ever sidelined. Regardless, Hunter has handcuff upside, and we'll find out in the next week if he has a shot at a coveted promotion.
