Week 4 of the NFL season has arrived, as a full month of football is almost in the books. It's a great time to step back and evaluate our fantasy rosters. What's working and what isn't? Which players are making waves? Which should we cut loose? Often, wide receiver is a position where a change can quickly impact your team. Here are three receivers you should start and three you should sit in Week 4.
Start Em'
Devaughn Vele, New Orleans Saints: Vele caught only three passes for 39 yards last week, but he was targeted six times. He has 22 targets through three games this season and topped 60 receiving yards in each of his first two. The Saints play the Falcons in Week 4, and the Falcons have allowed the sixth-most points to fantasy receivers this season.
Malik Nabers, New York Giants: Jameis Winston is still expected to start this week over J.J. McCarthy – and both probably lower the floor for Malik Nabers. But Winston has targeted Nabers often since stepping in as the team's quarterback, and this week's match-up against the Cardinals favors him. Arizona is allowing 34.2 fantasy points to opposing receiver groups this season.
Josh Downs, Indianapolis Colts: We listed Downs as a starter last weekend, and it paid off. He's scored 26.9 fantasy points over the past two weeks and has a favorable matchup against the Washington Commanders this week. Washington has allowed opposing receivers four 14-or-more fantasy-point performances in just three games this season.
Sit Em'
Tre Tucker, Las Vegas Raiders: Tucker has been the team's top outside receiver this season, but he caught just four passes for 43 yards in last week's win. Meanwhile, Brock Bowers is back and had 10 receptions for 116 yards and a touchdown last week. That could signal Tucker will get fewer targets moving forward. The Raiders also face a Chiefs defense this week that has allowed just 17.2 fantasy points per game to opposing receiver groups this season.
DJ Moore, Buffalo Bills: Normally, we wouldn't recommend sitting Moore after his strong start to the season. But this week, he's set to face Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzales. Gonzales has been used quite efficiently to shadow the opposing team's top wide receivers this season, and if he is effective in that role against Moore, Josh Allen may have to rely on other targets.
Mike Evans, San Francisco 49ers: Evans is obviously an elite talent, but it's not certain he'll even play this week after suffering a rib injury last week. He is considered day-to-day, and while he could play, he likely won't be at full strength. And the 49ers face a Broncos defense this week that has allowed the eighth-fewest fantasy points to opposing wide receivers, anchored by Patrick Surtain II – one of the top coverage cornerbacks in the NFL.
