The Houston Texans are hoping Marvin Harrison Jr. has the same success in the AFC South his father, Marvin Harrison, did.
The elder Harrison spent seven of his 13 years in the division once the NFL realigned starting in 2002.
The younger one will now play for the Houston Texans, who completed a trade with the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday for the enigmatic wideout from Ohio State.
Marvin Harrison was a fourth overall pick by Arizona out of Ohio State in 2004. So much was expected of him after a brilliant career with the Buckeyes. He had 155 catches for 2,613 yards and 31 touchdowns in three collegiate seasons.
The results did not follow to the NFL. Harrison Jr. caught 62 passes as a rookie, 41 last season in 12 games, and only five this year.
The result
was Arizona decided it was time to cut ties. Arizona sends Harrison to Houston for 2027 second- and sixth-round draft picks. The Texans also get a 2027 seventh-rounder.
Marvin Harrison had a Hall of Fame career with the Colts, catching 1,102 passes for 14,580 yards and 128 touchdowns. It isn't easy living up to what the father does but Harrison Jr. has his work cut out just to prove he won't be a bust.
