The Arizona Cardinals expected a great deal when they drafted Jeremiyah Love out of Notre Dame with the third overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft.
He has not come close to delivering.
On Tuesday, it was revealed Love is headed to IR with a high ankle sprain. That will shelve him for 4-to-5 weeks.
Love had already missed time with a different ankle sprain.
When he has been healthy, his stats have been ordinary, not those of a third overall pick.
Love has rushed for 268 yards on 76 carries, which translates into 3.4 yards per.
The Cardinals will turn to Tyler Allgeier as their primary back with Love on the sidelines.
Neither first-round 2026 running back from Notre Dame has done much early in their NFL careers.
Seattle drafted Jadarian Price missed four
games with a chest injury before returning in Monday's 34-17 loss to the Chicago Bears. Price had 10 carries for 29 yards in the game.
Price had 1,692 rushing yards for Notre Dame; Love rushed for 2,882 with the Fighting Irish.
