The Washington Commanders gave it their best and it wasn't good enough against the undefeated San Francisco 49ers on Monday night.
San Francisco held on for a 23-17 victory, ending the Commanders' final drive with a sack of Jayden Daniels.

The 49ers led at one point 23-3 before Washington scored 14 straight points.
There was a Commanders touchdown called back because of a facemask penalty on lineman Chris Paul, which nullified a 31-yard scoring run by Jeremy McNichols.
The 49ers lost elite WR Mike Evans to an Achilles injury at the end of the first half. Evans had 94 receiving yards on three catches before leaving.

Washington wasn't as bad as it was against the Giants but time management remains a concern.
In the first half, the Commanders had the ball on the 49ers’ 13. It was fourth-and-2 and they went for it and were stopped. Quinn then appeared to not realize it was fourth down, looking like he was ready to send the field-goal unit on the field.
In the fourth quarter, the clock was stopped and Jayden Daniels had to call a timeout. That left Washington with two instead of three in the final minutes.
