San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw has been suspended for one game without pay for headbutting a Seahawks player in the first half of Sunday's win.
With 6:30 left in the first half on Sunday, Greenlaw would hit Seahawks QB Sam Darnold late out of bounds, causing a skirmish after the play. Seahawks linebacker Ernest Jones IV, who wasn't wearing a helmet, got in Greenlaw's face and was headbutted, resulting in Greenlaw's ejection and an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
According to a league statement, Greenlaw violated Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1, which applies to "any act which is contrary to the generally understood principles of sportsmanship."
Greenlaw has been suspended for the October 19th matchup against the Washington Commanders,
barring an appeal.
Last week, Greenlaw received an $11,941 fine from the NFL for unsportsmanlike conduct after he repeatedly yelled at Denver's sideline and coach Sean Payton throughout that game.
