Week 4 in the NFL is typically a week in which you will see your fantasy team boom in the right direction, or take a slide in the wrong direction. Like any other week, Week 4 brings matchups where struggling QBs can put together complete games and pad their numbers, while others face stiff competition. Bo Nix and Justin Herbert are a couple of names at the top of that list. Either way, let's see if we can get the needle trending upwards for you, because why else would we be here?
Start - C.J. Stroud, Houston Texans
The Dallas Cowboys are giving up 25 fantasy points per game at the position, which ranks among the five worst in the NFL. Every week this season is an audition for Stroud to keep his Texans jersey. The Cowboys have been vulnerable all year
while the ball is in the air. Whether or not it will be enough for a win is another story, but we expect Stroud to put up very good numbers this week.
Start - Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers
Even with the loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday and facing pressure on 64% of dropbacks, Young still threw for 291 yards. This year, he has thrown for almost 1,000 yards through 3 games, with 7 touchdowns and only 2 interceptions. The Panthers are in prime time against the Detroit Lions, who have surrendered 979 yards and 9 touchdowns this season. The Lions have also allowed more than 33 points to opposing QBs. Plug him in.
Start - Marcus Mariota, Washington Commanders
As I've said before, some of our picks aren't always guaranteed. We look for options to help you with high production. This week, we're choosing Marcus Mariota because he posted a passer rating of 110.0 against the Seattle Seahawks' stingy defense and got the win. He threw for 183 yards and 3 touchdowns. He will remain a viable fantasy option until he's not. Plain and simple. In his last 8 games as a starter, he has averaged at least 18.4 points.
Sit - Bo Nix, Denver Broncos
The Broncos will travel to face the San Francisco 49ers during Week 4. San Fran is only allowing 9.5 fantasy points to opposing QBs through the first three games of the season. Currently, Bo Nix sits at QB21 in the league. Not worth it this week if you have another option on the bench.
Sit - Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers
Love's numbers look good on paper, but something is up this year in Green Bay. Without Josh Jacobs, they can not rely on the run to open up the passing game. After only being able to throw for 145 yards against the Jets, I've seen enough to warrant a Week 4 benching. Although improved, I cannot give the Jets that much credit just yet.
Sit - Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers
Herbert hasn't scored more than 15 fantasy points in a game this season. In fact, he's averaging only 12.7. He will turn it around, but not this week against the Seattle Seahawks at home. Not enough consistency out of Chargers camp yet to warrant a sit-and-forget-it QB again on Justin Herbert.
