Two weeks of the NFL season are now complete, and we're all starting to see the strengths and the weaknesses on our fantasy rosters. But there's a lot of football left to play, and if you have a gap at wide receiver, finding the right one to start could help you make up ground quickly. Here are the wide receivers you should start and the ones you should sit in Week 3.
Start Em'
Ja'Marr Chase, Cincinnati Bengals: We picked Ja'Marr Chase last week, and he did not disappoint. He scored over 36 fantasy points via seven receptions for 75 yards and two touchdowns. This week, they play the Steelers, who allowed Patriots wideout Romeo Doubs 96 yards on three receptions last week – so Chase will go against another exploitable defense.
Josh Downs, Indianapolis Colts:
Downs had seven receptions for 72 yards this week, and Alec Pierce is out after sustaining an injury. The Colts play the Texans, who are currently allowing the most fantasy points to wide receivers through the first two weeks of the season.
Jalen Coker, Carolina Panthers: Panthers quarterback Bryce Young looks like the real deal this year, and his top target has been Coker, with 16 receptions (on 18 targets) for 204 yards and two touchdowns. This week, the Panthers face the Browns, who are currently allowing the seventh-most fantasy points to wide receivers this year.
Sit Em'
Terry McLaurin, Washington Commanders: The Commanders are without their starting quarterback this week, and Stefon Diggs has emerged as the team's top target. This week, McLaurin will have to face a Seahawks defense that is allowing the fewest fantasy points to wide receivers in the NFL and the second-lowest EPA per target.
DK Metcalf, Pittsburgh Steelers: Metcalf was on this list last week, and it proved to be the right decision – he scored just 6.7 fantasy points against the Patriots and has now been held under eight fantasy points in each of his first two games. He looks increasingly worse as his Steelers tenure continues, and they play the Bengals this week, who held Metcalf under 10 fantasy points twice last year.
Luther Burden III, Chicago Bears: Burden has just 15.7 combined fantasy points through two weeks, as Kalif Raymond has emerged ahead of him as a top target early this season. The Bears are also without starting quarterback Caleb Williams this week as he recovers from an injury suffered in Week 2.
