A scary injury to Jalen Hurts has put his season on hold. For fantasy managers, the Eagles' offense could collapse quickly and brutally.
What happens when there's an offensive collapse--or when the offense wasn't great to begin with? The teams with the fewest TDs this season are the Titans, Dolphins, Chargers, Vikings, and Browns. Last year, it was the Raiders, Titans, Jets, and Browns.
The odds of finding a fantasy-relevant player on low-output teams are... well, they're low. Aaron Jones is one exception this year. Brock Bowers pre-injury was an exception last year. You get the idea.
The Eagles have lost three straight. Their fantasy playoff schedule (Seahawks, Texans, and 49ers) was already tough. What happens if their three-game losing streak
turns into five, six, or more during Hurts' indefinite absence?
Former sixth-round pick Tanner McKee is expected to be under center in Week 6, and potentially beyond. His start was electric: four TDs on his first 37 throws. Incredible. He now takes over an offense currently missing its #1 WR, #1 RB, #2 RB, and #3 RB.
Saquon Barkley's questionable return would be a jolt to the offense. I can see Philly running him into the ground if he's good to go. 30 touches? No problem, and it would come at the expense of Dontayvion Wick, Makai Lemon, and Dallas Goedert.
The shorthanded Eagles have scored the fourth-fewest points per game, even with Hurts leading the offense. A lot has to go right for this team to do better with McKee at the helm.
