The New York Giants will have Cam Skattebo on the sidelines as he enters his second season in the NFL. But that almost did not turn out to be the case.
Skattebo appeared on the Up & Adams show this week, and when discussing his ankle injury during his rookie season – which ended his year – he revealed that he was very close to hanging up his cleats and not coming back at all.
"The first month was like, 'damn, do I really want to do this?'" said Sakketbo.

Skattebo was injured in Week 8 last season, suffering a dislocated ankle that sidelined him for the remainder of the season. He made appearances in eight games for the Giants.
He started five, ahead of the injury, recording 410 rushing yards, five rushing touchdowns, 207 receiving yards, and two receiving touchdowns before his season was brought to an untimely end.
The Giants will certainly be happy to have Skattebo back and that he didn't retire, as he is currently projected to be the franchise's starting running back entering the season. But the Giants will also have two solid backups in Tyron Tracy and Najee Harris, who should be able to keep Skattebo from taking on too heavy a workload as he returns from injury.
