A lot of folks around the league have been wondering how long Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams will be out after suffering a hamstring injury during Week 2. We now have a timetable.
According to ESPN and NFL Network, a doctor said Williams would likely be sidelined for 3-4 weeks with a grade-two hamstring strain. This doesn't mean the hamstring will keep him out the whole time, as Williams is known to heal quickly. This is a typical recovery time to return to 100%.
Williams has been ruled out for tonight's matchup on Monday Night Football against the Philadelphia Eagles.
On Monday, when Bears head coach Ben Johnson spoke to reporters, Johnson said, "Here's what I know," at the time. "This guy's a little bit different than the average human
being. I said that last night; I'll double down on that. He gets back -- he has in the past -- a lot faster than what people can anticipate, and so I'm not putting a timeline on this. We're going to say week-to-week. He's going to attack this with everything that he knows."
To further complicate the QB situation, backup QB Tyson Bagent reported to the team on Tuesday that he was feeling the effects of a concussion and was placed in concussion protocol, but he has since cleared it. It appears that third-string quarterback Case Keenum will likely start on Monday night.
The Bears have not placed Caleb Williams on injured reserve.
