C.J. Gardner-Johnson has worn out his welcome with the Buffalo Bills.
The controversial defensive back was released by the team on Tuesday.
The decision comes after he missed Sunday's win over the Baltimore Ravens for a spitting incident in the Week 6 game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Gardner-Johnson was seen spitting in the direction of Raiders tight end Brock Bowers. He earned an NFL-mandated one-game ban for that.
In six games, Gardner-Johnson recorded 26 total tackles, two passes defensed, and one interception.
He manages to find trouble on the field seemingly everywhere he goes.
Gardner-Johnson has now played for six teams since his rookie season in 2019.
The most time he spent was with New Orleans for three seasons, then with the Eagles for two.
Every other stint was a year or less.
Gardner-Johnson came into this season fined 13 times for more than $194,000.
