If you are preparing for your fantasy draft and trying to figure out what tight end you need on your roster, you are not alone. Everyone is vying for the top tight end prospects - Brock Bowers with the Las Vegas Raiders, Trey McBride with the Arizona Cardinals, and Colston Loveland with the Chicago Bears. But what if you cannot get any of these tight ends? Here are five tight ends outside of the top three that you can draft in your fantasy league this year.
Kyle Pitts - ADP: TE9
The reason his ADP is so low is obvious - there is concern about the quarterback play, especially because the Atlanta Falcons have not named a starter. That is reasonable. However, the general strategy for Atlanta’s offense is the same regardless of the quarterback: get
the ball to running back Bijan Robinson, wide receiver Drake London, and tight end Kyle Pitts.
Pitts will be one of the top playmakers in the Falcons’ offense and should see considerable targets, probably close to his 118 targets last season. That makes him a pretty good fantasy option, especially as the ninth tight end coming off the board.
Travis Kelce - ADP: TE10
Travis Kelce is not the fantasy prospect he used to be, but he is still a decent tight end to have on your roster. Despite the Kansas City Chiefs having a down year, Kelce was able to finish last season with 76 receptions for 851 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Especially if you are not able to get one of the top three tight ends in the draft, Kelce would not be a bad tight end to snag as your starter, especially with quarterback Patrick Mahomes expected to be back for the season opener.
Dallas Goedert - ADP: TE14
There are a lot of players who get the ball in the Philadelphia Eagles’ offense, but Goedert proved to be a reliable red zone threat last season as he had a career-high 11 touchdowns. While that makes Goedert rather touchdown-dependent, at TE14 in the draft, there is a high ceiling for what Goedert could do this season. So, while he may not be the best option as the starting tight end, he will at least provide decent fantasy points.
Brenton Strange - ADP: TE16
The Jacksonville Jaguars are another team where many people will get the ball. However, he is the unquestioned top tight end and really came on in the latter part of last season. All three of his touchdowns last year came in the final six games, as did some of his best receiving days. If you're drafting TE16, you may not get the most reliable player. However, Strange has the potential to have some breakout performances this season.
Dalton Schultz - ADP: TE19
He is actually the tight end I think is the most underrated in fantasy. The Houston Texans do not have much depth at receiver. There is top receiver Nico Collins, but Dalton Schultz is probably the next-best receiving option. Quarterback C.J. Stroud struggled at times last season, but Schultz’ fantasy production can overcome that. Snag Schultz in your drafts if you can.
He is someone that potentially could be a starting tight end but as the TE19, it is more likely you are drafting him to be your backup which would be a smart move.
