During an adventurous Week 5 of the NFL season, the outlook for Week 6 looks just as intriguing. Bye weeks have started, and many folks will be looking for a QB they can plug in to get a respectable 18-20 points for their fantasy squad this week. Last week, we batted a thousand for who to start and who to sit; let's see if we can keep it rolling with notable names like Joe Burrow, Jared Goff, and Kyler Murray off this week.
Start - Daniel Jones, Indianapolis Colts
Yes, it may be unorthodox, but that's what we do here, and why we are usually wildly successful. Daniel Jones hasn't thrown a touchdown pass in two games, but last week he didn't turn the ball over and threw for a season-high 267 yards against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Colts will
play the Tennessee Titans, who are not very good against opposing QBs; in fact, they are near the bottom. It seems like a great place to plug in Jones for a great game.
Start - Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers
Brock Purdy should be a set-it-and-forget-it QB right now. He faces the Washington Commanders this week, who have given up 25 or more points twice this year to opposing QBs, and I expect much of the same from Purdy. I would be surprised if you had him on the bench or if he were a free agent, but in the event of that, this is your cue to start him.
Start - Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers
Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers will face the Dallas Cowboys in Week 6. Love is coming off his best performance of the season, throwing for 367 yards and two touchdowns against the Bears. He is capable of having a game like this more often than not, but sometimes it's under the radar. He has thrown for at least 2 touchdown passes in each of his last five games. The Cowboys also give up a lot to opposing QBs.
Sit - Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers
Herbert cannot be trusted at the moment. He also struggled against a Denver Broncos team in Week 5 that was missing its two best corners. Another low-yardage output with 121 yards, and the turnovers are mounting. It's just not worth it until things swing upwards.
Sit - Bo Nix, Denver Broncos
Something is up with Bo Nix. Call it a sophomore slump as a starter, or maybe a mental lapse, but he needs to get it turned around quickly. He's shown flashes, but I don't think anything will change against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 6. Nix doesn't seem to want to throw deep and find receivers downfield, which means his PPG could suffer this week if he keeps checking down.
Sit - Jacoby Brissett, Arizona Cardinals
I have seen an uptick in the percentage of Brissett rostered last week, and rightly so. He torched the Lions last week in a losing effort, for almost 300 passing yards and 3 touchdowns. This week, the Cardinals will play the Los Angeles Rams. The Lions may have the worst defense in the NFL; the Rams, on the other hand, do not. Save Brissett for another day.
