The Detroit Lions have been named the best fit for 3 of the hottest names at the NFL trade deadline.
Philadelphia Eagles CB Riq Woolen (45% Chance To Be Traded)
It shouldn't surprise anyone that a few names that could help any NFL franchise have appeared in the Detroit Lions' rumor mill. Although the defense has been a little better lately, they could still use help at the second and third levels of the pass defense. Eagles CB Riq Woolen seems like a great fit for them. Detroit would only have to eat $6 million of his current deal. He could bring rare height to the Lions' secondary. He hasn't looked like the same player since leaving Seattle, while with the Eagles.
Cincinnati Bengals Edge Shemar Stewart (35% Chance To Be Traded)
Although the Bengals
are unlikely to give up on Stewart so early, he could bring size and speed to the edge in Detroit. After a training camp injury and a high draft pick last season, Cincinnati has used Stewart on only 17 snaps. As I said, although unlikely, it just makes sense. He is getting better each week and deserves the chance to show it more often.
New Orleans Saints G Cesar Ruiz (24% Chance To Be Traded)
The Lions' pursuit of a guard may never come to fruition by this year's trade deadline, but it's the NFL. We should never say never. The Lions have had great guard play of late, but ESPN seems to think this could be in the works; don't bet on it.
Of these three names, I'd bet that Riq Woolen is the most likely to seek a change of scenery. This would help the Lions on defense tremendously.
