If you are desperate for TE production and don't have a consensus top-12 Week 4 fantasy tight end, here are three highly unconventional, solid-upside bargains. Also, if you're planning to start one of those previously referenced top-12 fantasy TEs, these three are riskier than usual. As always, let's use FantasyPros' composite of Week 4 rankings as our guide.
Start - Kenyon Sadiq, New York Jets (Ranked 13th)
The first tight end taken in this year's NFL draft, Kenyon Sadiq is the real deal. Injuries to multiple Jets receivers pushed the rookie's Week 3 offensive snap count nearly 20 percentage points above his average the first two weeks, and he delivered a breakout performance. He can do it again in Week 4.
Start - Colston Loveland, Chicago Bears
(Ranked 14th)
Overvalued this summer and now undervalued after a slow start, Colston Loveland won't be a buy-low tight end for much longer. Despite the crowded receiver corps and two capable tight ends backing him up, Chicago understands that Loveland is an offensive difference-maker. He's a major rebound candidate.
Start - Darren Waller, Carolina Panthers (Ranked 16th)
Sometimes an out-of-work skill player lands in the perfect spot. Carolina has been lacking a dynamic tight end for years. While 34-year-old Darren Waller isn't exactly "the answer," he's a temporary upgrade and -- with Jalen Coker and Xavier Legette hobbled -- a realistic top-three target at home against the Lions' beatable defense.
Sit - Sam LaPorta, Detroit Lions (Ranked 6th)
As shared before, these recommended sits are always tough because top-12 tight ends are expected to post solid or even elite numbers. Sam LaPorta is one of the riskiest because his floor is so low. Since his breakout as a 2023 rookie, LaPorta has averaged 4.1 catches on only 5.4 targets. He has little room for error.
Sit - Tucker Kraft, Green Bay Packers (Ranked 9th)
This pains me, because I recently traded for him. Tucker Kraft is still working his way back from last year's season-ending injury. His drops last week are concerning. Facing Tampa Bay's backup quarterback, the Packers might find themselves in cruise control by the third quarter. Kraft should be okay as the season progresses. For now, he's an unreliable streamer.
Sit - Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs (Ranked 3rd)
Last week I wrote that Travis Kelce was risky because Kansas City would probably get an early lead, paving the way for secondary and tertiary skill players to step up. In fact, Kelce played a season-low 41 offensive snaps and saw only two targets. But he turned those targets into 13.9 points. As he approaches his 37th birthday, the all-time great is one of the biggest sell-high TEs.
