The most important position to get right in fantasy football is the quarterback position. Josh Allen with the Buffalo Bills is the top quarterback prospect, but you have to draft him very high if you want him as your quarterback. Otherwise, you can wait and draft a solid quarterback in the later rounds.
However, when you get to that point, there are some quarterbacks you do not want on your fantasy team. Here are five quarterbacks to avoid drafting in fantasy this year.
QB Jayden Daniels
Do not draft Jayden Daniels. After last season, the obvious concern with Daniels is his availability. It is always difficult when your quarterback is injured, and you have to go to the waiver wire to find a quarterback to make do. That is probably the exact position
drafting Daniels is going to put you in unless you draft a backup higher in the draft, which hurts your other positions.
Daniels had three separate injuries last season, and they were the result of him putting himself in situations where he was more likely to get injured. In fantasy, having a quarterback like that is too big of a risk.
QB Brock Purdy
The concern with Brock Purdy is somewhat similar to Daniels'. Purdy missed significant time last year and has a concerning history of injuries. Even when he does play, his numbers are not elite and do not justify his QB12 ADP. Every year, Purdy has thrown at least 10 interceptions, including last season when he only played in nine games. Around this point in the draft, there will be better quarterbacks available. Pass on Purdy.
QB Jaxson Dart
There seem to be some people who believe that quarterback Jaxson Dart and the New York Giants will take a big leap forward. That does not seem likely for several reasons, one of which is who their new offensive coordinator is. The decision to hire Matt Nagy as the offensive coordinator still baffles me, and it actually hurts Dart’s fantasy value by making it difficult to know what kind of production Dart will have.
There is also the question of whether he will run the ball as much in year two after missing time last season because of a concussion. Dart seems too risky to take as a starting quarterback.
QB Bo Nix
Sometimes, there is a difference between a good quarterback and a good quarterback in fantasy football. Bo Nix highlights the difference. Especially after leading the Denver Broncos to a 14-3 record last season, there is no question that Nix is a good quarterback. However, he is not a good option in fantasy.
In each of his first two years in the league, he has recorded double-digit interceptions and has yet to throw 30 touchdowns or more in a season. He does have a rushing upside, so if you grab him at his ADP as QB16, he is a solid pickup as a backup quarterback. But he is not someone you should be counting on as your starting quarterback.
QB Jordan Love
Do not draft Love, even if you are drafting him as a backup. He is just not worth it. The Green Bay Packers like to run the ball, and while there is uncertainty about who will be running it this season, their strategy of being a run-first team is not going to change. Love also only had 3,381 passing yards last year, and there are quarterbacks with a similar ADP who have much better potential than Love.
