Fantasy managers haven't been this excited about a Chiefs RB since Clyde Edwards-Helaire. While Kenneth Walker should be solid, he might be overhyped.
His current overall-18 / RB12 ADP suggests that he's a safe second-round pick in 12-team leagues. He's left Seattle -- 2025's third-best offense in points scored -- for a franchise that hasn't finished better than 15 in points scored since 2022. While Walker has a shot at meeting expectations, consider these three yellow flags before drafting him.
First, he's finished in the top 16 in RB fantasy points per game only once in four seasons, and that was two years ago when he was the RB12. There are questions about whether Kansas City will turn him into a true workhorse -- which would increase his ceiling
-- or if Emmett Johnson and/or Emari Demercado could keep Walker in the 250- 275-touch range, which would probably keep him outside the top 10. The playoff-aspiring Chiefs might not want to run him into the ground before January.
Second, back in 2024, Walker had 15 carries inside the opposing five-yard line compared to only six for rookie Zach Charbonnet. The following year, both had 12 carries. Then last year, Charbonnet out-carried Walker 18-8. It's a warning sign for those who assume Walker will handle most of the Chiefs' goal-line work.
Sure, he might. But the Super Bowl-champion Seahawks recognized that Charbonnet was a better option in those high-leverage situations. Perhaps Johnson or Demercado will poach some would-be Walker scores.
Finally, Walker is coming off a career-high 326 touches, including the playoffs. His incredible durability was an outlier, as he was slowed by injuries in each of his other three seasons. His ADP assumes 16+ games played and minimal ill effects from 2025's sizable workload. It requires a bit of a leap for managers to believe none of this will impact his upside.
