Some teams' #1 WRs are secure atop the depth chart even when they're injured; however long they're sidelined, these receivers will pick up where they left off. That's not necessarily the case for D.J. Moore, whose fantasy value is wobbly at best. Here's why fantasy managers should consider selling high.
Let's set the stage: Moore was a prized offseason acquisition for a Buffalo squad that needed a wideout boost. Last season, Khalil Shakir was a miscast #1, leading a group comprised of underperformer Keon Coleman, journeyman Joshua Palmer, Tyrell Shavers, and a smattering of post-prime pass catchers winding down their careers.
Compared to that group, Moore was a sizable upgrade. He then delivered big numbers in Week 1 and "sold" numbers in Week 3.
Injuries limited him to only 23 offensive snaps in the Bills' other two contests, where he caught only one pass on two targets.
Moore is not ascending. He was the Bears' #1 WR in 2023, but by 2025 he was effectively their #3, stepping up only when Rome Odunze or Luther Burden got hurt. He'll turn 30 in April. Time isn't on his side, and neither is his current situation as an injured receiver in a corps that's getting better without him.
Essentially, when Moore finally returns to 100%, he'll be competing for targets with three guys, Shakir, Coleman, and Dalton Kincaid, who seem to have improved since last year and have, at various times this past month, looked like Josh Allen's favorite receiver.
Fantasy managers should be wary of Moore's rest-of-season value. The longer he's sidelined, the harder it will be for him to produce at a #1 WR level.
