Just about 48 hours before the Chicago Bears kick off their season against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, they signed running back D’Andre Swift to a three-year, $33.75 extension, which includes $27.5 million guaranteed.

Swift arguably had the best season of his career last year, with a career-high in rushing yards (1,089 yards) and tying his career-high in total touchdowns with 10. His nine rushing touchdowns last season were also a career-high. He was a significant piece in Chicago’s top-10 rushing offense last season alongside fellow running back Kyle Monangai, who had a strong rookie
campaign in 2025.
The Bears will be looking for another productive season out of Swift, who is going into his third year with Chicago. In his first season, Swift achieved over 1,300 scrimmage yards, including nearly 400 receiving yards. Throughout his career, he has been a threat in both the run and passing game.
With his contract extension, he is now signed with the Bears through the 2029 season. Signing Swift now was a smart move for the Bears, given that multiple players, including quarterback Caleb Williams and wide receiver Rome Odunze, will be eligible for extensions after this season.
