It wouldn't be a stretch to say that Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are one of the best quarterback-tight end combinations in NFL history. And during a 35-12 win over the Chiefs on Sunday, the pair solidified their place in the NFL record books.
Kelce hauled in three receptions for 67 yards on Sunday for the Chiefs during their victory, and on a 38-yard connection between Mahomes and his tight end, the duo set the all-time NFL record for the most combined passing and receiving yards by a quarterback and tight end, surpassing Philip Rivers and Antonio Gates for the top spot on the list. The pair has now combined for 9,360 passing and receiving yards.
Most Yards by a QB and TE duo in NFL History... Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce stand alone.

What's remarkable is the short amount of time that it has taken the pair to accomplish this feat – Rivers and Gates played together for 14 years. The pair in third place, Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski, played together for 11 years. But Mahomes and Kelce have outdone them in just eight and a half seasons.
Mahomes had an injury scare in the win, but managed to return to the game for the Chiefs. That means as long as he stays healthy, he and Kelce have at least another half-season to keep building on their record. And if Kelce does call it quits and retire following this season, which is very possible after the buzz surrounding his potential retirement this past offseason, he and Mahomes will hold a claim to a very special honor that will go down in history.
