The Arizona Cardinals are likely going to get a massive boost to their offense ahead of their Week 1 clash with the Los Angeles Chargers.
According to ESPN reporter Josh Weinfuss
, sources stated that rookie running back Jeremiyah Love is expected to play in Week 1 for the Cardinals. After suffering a high-ankle sprain in Week 2 of the preseason, he has reportedly made enough progress to be cleared for action against the Chargers.Jeremiyah Love expected to play for Cardinals in Week 1
Before his preseason injury, Love racked up 58 rushing yards on 11 carries in preseason action, good for an average of 5.3 yards per carry. He was also hauled in three receptions for 14 yards on three targets. After going down with an injury, it was undetermined whether Love would be healthy enough to get back into action by
the start of the season, though the franchise was "hopeful" he'd make it back in time.
Love won the Doak Walker Award last season at the NCAA FBS level, tallying 1,372 yards and 18 touchdowns in 12 games for Notre Dame. He was selected as the third overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Love made NFL history with his rookie contract, which guaranteed him over $50 million – the most guaranteed money ever made by a running back in league history.
