We're now four weeks into the NFL season, and fans are getting a sense at how each team is going to look over the course of the 2026 season. And a big part of how each team will perform is going to be depend on how successful their offenses are going to operate on a down-to-down basis – although, as you'll clearly see below, a successful offense isn't always required to win.
For the sake of this article, we're judging based upon each team's offensive play success rate, which is measures how how often a team stays on schedule offensively based on the percentage of yards gained based on the down. Let's take a look at which teams have been the least efficient on the offensive side of the ball in the NFL this year.
Lowest successful offensive play

The NFL's lowest successful offensive play percentages through Week 4
Miami Dolphins (0-4) - 37.8%
The Miami Dolphins are dead last in the league in this statistical category, with just 37.8% of their offensive plays grading out as successful. It shows, too. The Dolphins are averaging just 11.5 points per game this season, and are still winless – with three of the four losses being decided by two-or-more scores.
Minnesota Vikings (4-0) - 40.2%
This one might come as a surprise to people given their record, but the Vikings have not been great at staying on schedule offensively and gaining the required amount of yards needed each play. But that inefficiency does show in the box score. Minnesota scored 39 points in their opening win over the Green Bay Packers, but have averaged just 15.6 points per game in their three victories since. Those most recent three wins have also all been decided by one score.
Washington Commanders (1-3) - 41.9%
The Commanders could attribute some of this to losing Jayden Daniels in Week 2, and he is expected to be back in action this week. But the highest-scoring game from the Commanders this season came with Marcus Mariota under center for the entire game. The team is averaging 22 points per game, so they can score consistently a bit better than the other teams on this list – so you feel like there is more hope for a turnaround here than for the Dolphins.
