After having to be helped off the field after suffering a lower-body injury on Sunday, the Chicago Bears have gotten a hopeful update on starting quarterback Caleb Williams.
In a 9-3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, the Bears lost Williams to what looked like a potentially serious injury. But thankfully for Williams and franchise fans, the injury may not be as bad as some initially thought. Head coach Ben Johnson revealed on Monday that Williams is going to be "week-to-week" with his hamstring injury, but is unlikely to return immediately.
"It sounds like it's going to be a week-to-week deal for him," Johnson said. "I've got to still talk with our trainer. We'll do that here shortly and I'll have the lowdown from him. But it sounds like it's week-to-week but
will likely miss some time."

Williams went 21-for-29, passing for 259 yards and two touchdowns in the team's Week 1 win over the Panthers, but he was not having as great a game on Sunday against the Vikings before his injury. But after he led the Bears to an NFC North Championship and a Divisional Round appearance in the postseason last year, the franchise will be eager to get him back into action.
Tyson Bagent replaced Williams after the injury, and Bagent finished the game for the Bears. He ended up going 5-for-9 for 54 yards in relief of Williams. A former Harlon Hill Trophy winner at the Division 2 level, Bagent has played in 13 games and made four starts for the Bears over the past four seasons.
