The Green Bay Packers will sign tight end Jonnu Smith to a one-year deal, per ESPN NFL insiders Adam Schefter and Jordan Schultz.

The tight end position for the Packers may be a little thin these days with Tucker Kraft practicing, but recovering from a torn ACL last November. Luke Musgrave has also been out with a neck injury. It was announced that the team would sign Jonnu Smith to a one-year deal on Thursday.
The Packers also have returning tight ends Josh Whyle and Drake Dabney, with practice-squad player Messiah Swinson considered a roster possibility, too.
Smith was selected in the third round by the Tennessee Titans in the 2017 NFL Draft out
of Florida International. After spending four years with the Titans and two with the New England Patriots, he bounced around a bit with the Falcons, Dolphins, and Steelers.
The Pittsburgh Steelers released Smith back in March. In his career, he has caught 345 passes and scored 30 touchdowns while appearing in eight playoff games. He brings experience to a Packers tight end room that will need depth to start the season until they can get healthy.
