There are still some Week 1 games going on as this is being written on Sunday night, but for the most part, the first full week of the college football season is complete. The 2027 NFL Draft class is loaded with talented quarterback prospects who will be playing on Saturday this fall. Let's take a look at which ones raised their draft stock, and which ones lowered it this weekend.
Stocks up after Week 1:
Darian Mensah, Miami (FL)
Mensah looked elite in his debut for the Hurricanes, as he went 27-for-30 for 400 yards and five touchdowns in his team's 45-6 win over Stanford. Completing 90 percent of his passes, he posted a 92.6 PFF offensive grade and a 93.0 PFF passing grade.
Josh Hoover, Indiana
Hoover had just 17 dropbacks in Week 1, so he didn't put a ton on display.
But he got the job done and put points up, earning a 92.9 PFF grade (both for total offense and for passing) as he went 13-for-16 for 231 yards and four touchdowns through the air. They beat North Texas 52-16.
Jayden Maiava, USC
USC earned a 39-0 win over Fresno State this week, and Maiava was perhaps the most efficient of these players. He went 23-for-25 passing for 349 yards and three touchdowns. He posted a 91.1 PFF offensive grade and a 92.3 PFF passing grade.
Stocks down after Week 1:
Drew Mestemaker, Oklahoma State
The hype around Mestemaker will go down after his Power 4 debut ended with Oklahoma State losing to Tulsa. He went 29-for-49 for 241 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions, posting just a 50.6 PFF offensive grade and a 50.9 PFF passing grade
Sam Leavitt, LSU
LSU earned a massive victory over Clemson, but Leavitt was less impressive individually. He went 16-for-28 for 231 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He had a massive 113-yard run-game performance that boosted his offensive PFF grade to 90.3, but his passing attack left something to be desired.
DJ Lagway, Baylor
Lagway was boosted by making six plays categorized as big-time throws, but went 27-for-54 for 333 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception through the air in a one-point loss to Auburn. His ceiling is high, but his consistency presents concerns.
