It isn't often that I find roster construction easier on FD
than on DK. This week, it falls that way. I am definitely going to be overweight on Brock Purdy (QB1) and the Niners' offense. Both Dak Prescott (QB2) and Jayden Daniels (QB3) are legitimate pivots. Daniels' rushing numbers could once again be huge, especially since Jacory Croskey-Merritt (RB4 - groin) has been ruled out. Jordan Love (QB4) is the only quarterback that I don't foresee having huge ownership on. The Packers' offensive line remains a mess, and the Cowboys' defense should be improved thanks to new defensive assistant Mike Pettine. Plus, the Cowboys will get back DeMarvion Overshown (hamstring) from injury, and Joey Porter Jr. will be fully up to speed (and hopefully not sick).
Pricing makes it fairly simple to lock and load on Christian McCaffrey (RB2) and Javonte Williams (RB1). If you fade McCaffrey, you can fit in CeeDee Lamb at receiver, so that is the primary consideration here. I love Rachaad White (RB3 - shoulder) as my FLEX (or as RB2 in Lamb builds). The other RB2/FLEX option is to use MarShawn Lloyd (RB5). He has a great matchup, but he has been inefficient running the ball. Basically, you are pegging your hopes on him scoring a touchdown and maybe reaching 70 total yards. Austin Ekeler (RB6) and Kaelon Black (RB7) also make sense as discount FLEX plays and as roster-fillers in Showdown. Ekeler could even be in play at RB2. Kaleb Johnson (RB8) has seen a few touches for the Packers, and he may ultimately be a better runner than Lloyd. If the team could fix their O-line woes, I would consider him. For now, you can ignore him.
In Week 5, CeeDee Lamb (WR1 - quad) disappointed his fantasy owners by leaving the game early despite the team considering his injury minor. He should play this week, but another "phantom injury" would piss everyone off, especially at this salary. Plus, fitting both Lamb and McCaffrey on your roster is difficult. George Pickens (WR4) would be the obvious pivot at a sizeable saving. That said, Mike Evans (WR2 - rib/Achilles) would be my preference at WR1 if he can suit up and play through his pain. Evans is a tough SOB, so I expect him to be a go.
At WR2, I feel I am choosing between the Packers' duo of Matthew Golden (WR3) and Christian Watson (WR5), or theCommanders' injured duo of Terry McLaurin (WR6 - hamstring) and Stefon Diggs (WR7 - hamstring). Golden is my preference of the four, as I believe Porter will wrangle Watson. I could also save some money here by choosing two of this foursome and using one at WR1. In that case, I'd lean towards Golden and McLaurin.
WR3 is wide open. If I decide not to use Evans, Brandin Cooks (WR8) would be my de facto WR3 play. Otherwise, you are choosing from a group including: Ryan Flournoy (WR9), Treylon Burks (WR10), Antonio Williams (WR11) and Christian Kirk (WR11 - IR - calf), assuming the team activates him. Flournoy actually makes sense as a FLEX play if you don't use Lamb or Pickens. Jacob Cowing (WR12) may start for San Francisco if neither Evans nor Kirk can go. I prefer using Cooks in that case, but Cowing should have less ownership.
The depth wide receivers are far less appealing. Skyy Moore (WR13), Dyami Brown (WR14) and Kavontae Turpin (WR15) have minimal WR3/FLEX appeal. Bo Melton (WR16) and Jonathan Mingo (WR17) do not have any appeal to me.
We have four solid options at tight end. George Kittle (TE1) is my favorite option because of all the wide receiver injuries for the 49ers. If I don't use him, I will just stack the tight end of my choice with my starting quarterback. Tucker Kraft (TE2) is my second-favorite option, despite not being a fan of Love. I am ranking Chigoziem Okonkwo (TE3) slightly above Jake Ferguson (TE4) because Washington also has a few wide receiver injuries.
There are two defenses that I like: the San Francisco 49ers (DEF1) and Dallas Cowboys (DEF2). Dallas is way cheaper, making it my defense of choice. I don’t like either of the other options, but if forced, I would choose the Washington Commanders (DEF3) instead of the Green Bay Packers (DEF4).
