Not all that long ago, it was Sam Hauser who was among several younger players on the Boston Celtics trying to carve out a role with the team on the wing, so the veteran forward can relate to the struggle in front of several younger Boston wins now in that same situation. The Virginia alum shared his perspective on the Celtics' surprsing young wing depth, and why they don't need to worry about playing time so long as they stay ready.
"I think pretty much throughout Joe (Mazzulla's) whole coaching career to this point, I feel like one through 17, we've all had a chance to play, all had a chance to play good minutes and contributed to a lot of wins throughout the year," said Hauser viaCLNS Media, "even when guys are missing games for injuries or whatever."
"Next man up mentality has been our thing," he added. "That's the importance of this workout time we have right now and the coaches really spending time and trying to get us better."
"It's been great," continued Hauser. "I think Jordan (Walsh), Baylor (Scheierman), Hugo (González), Ron (Harper Jr.), all throughout training camp, to this point, I've looked really good."
"And that's awesome for our team because those four guys bring a different dynamics to what we're trying to do, and we're excited to see what they can do for us throughout the year."
