In recent years, the NBA has seen an influx of elite young talent, some of whom have emerged as genuine superstars. Anthony Edwards, Victor Wembanyama, and Cade Cunningham are just three of the latest batch of star-level talent to rise toward the top of the NBA.
Of course, Celtics fans have also enjoyed watching one of those young players blossom into a superstar with Jayson Tatum. The difference is, Tatum is entering his prime years and should be ready to emerge as a perennial MVP candidate over the next few seasons. When healthy, Tatum, 28, is an elite two-way wing. He can score across all three levels, rebound at a high level, is an exceptional playmaker and shot creator, and can also operate as a weak-side help defender across the low help line.
Given Tatum's wide-ranging skill set, there's an argument to be made that he's the best player at his position within the NBA. With that discussion in mind, Sam LaFrance and Nik Land of the "How 'Bout Them Celtics?" podcast recently discussed Tatum's standing within the NBA and whether there are any other small forwards that could challenge him for the title of being the league's best.
