From the moment the Boston Celtics traded Jaylen Brown, external expectations for the franchise began to dip. For the second straight year, Joe Mazzulla's roster is entering a new NBA season without the expectation of competing for a championship. Instead, Boston is expected to be a force during the regular season, but an early exit in the playoffs.
When looking at the Celtics roster, it's hard to see why people are so low on the team's chances of success. They've still got Jayson Tatum leading the way, along with Paul George, Derrick White, Mitchell Robinson, and Payton Pritchard as key depth pieces, and that's before we discuss the younger talents in the rotation.
Assuming both Tatum and George stay healthy this season, the Celtics have more
than enough to be a threat, both during the regular season and the playoffs. In fact, it's fair to say that the current roster is stronger than the one that finished second in the Eastern Conference last season, although the East has gotten deeper over the summer.
According to a recent video from the 'DflowHoops' YouTube channel, the NBA may find itself regretting any underestimation that takes place this season, as Boston could emerge as an underdog threat in the East. The video then continues to break down multiple aspects of the Celtics' roster and system that could catch teams off guard.
