Boston Celtics media and fans of the team did not lean into the fact that this is the first campaign in a decade without star forward Jaylen Brown on the roster too much on Media Day. But Brown's costar on the wing for almost all of that stretch, Jayson Tatum, opened up on that dynamic nonetheless in a recent interviewwith former Boston big man (and current broadcaster) Brian Scalabrine on SiriusXM. "It's going to look different," said the St. Louis native. "We've got a different team."
"And, for me, you know, you were in it, you know the business of basketball," added Tatum, giving a nod to Scal's time in the league. "It always plays a part in the NBA, and it's something you can't get away from. And I'll acknowledge right we had nine incredible
years together, five conference finals appearances and two finals appearances. We won the championship; we did it – we accomplished the ultimate goal."
"I'll forever be thankful for being able to share the court with him," said Tatum. "I feel like we both learned a lot from each other. We both complimented each other; we pushed each other."
"From now until the end of time, when you speak about our careers, you won't be able to say one without the other," said the star Celtics forward. "And I'm thankful for that."
"It's not something to necessarily be sad about. It's something to celebrate, right? What we were able to do. And I say nothing but love and respect for him and wish him the best. And I know he's going to kill it from here on out."
