Paul George's addition to the Boston Celtics roster came courtesy of an incredibly controversial trade in which Brad Stevens sent Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers. As such, George's addition was primarily viewed through a negative lens, with his injury history and high salary both areas fans pointed to with discontent.
Yet, when healthy, George projects as a solid fit in Joe Mazzulla's rotation. His ability to play off-ball means the Celtics will have another scoring threat off the catch; he can defend multiple positions at a high level; and, when required, he can operate as a secondary or tertiary ball-handler. Furthermore, George is a proven commodity as a secondary star, having spent multiple years playing next to Kawhi Leonard with
the Los Angeles Clippers.
With all of the above in mind, James Stewart of 98.5 The Sports Hub recently shared his belief that George is a better on-court fit for the Celtics than Jaylen Brown was. He detailed how George can help elevate Jayson Tatum while also slotting into his role.
