BOSTON — The Boston Celtics cruised to a 114-93 win over the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night, improving to 3-0 in preseason play. Boston outclassed its opponent on the turnover margins, as it lost possession just 11 times while Charlotte suffered a whopping 30 turnovers.
Celtics star Jayson Tatum led the C's in almost every way, logging a game-high 19 points in 29 minutes to go along with a game-high 8 rebounds. Fellow Celtics starter Derrick White also had an impressive outing, recording 17 points in 19 minutes and swiping a game-high 4 steals. The last Celtics standout from the starting lineup was first-year Green Teamer Mitchell Robinson, who finished the victory with 12 points (on 100 percent shooting from the field), 7 rebounds, and a game-high 3
blocks.
Boston largely dominated the first half but truly ran away with the game in the fourth quarter. The Hornets played a majority of their best players, with promising forward Brandon Miller dropping 16 points and 5 rebounds in 27 minutes of play.
The only absence for the Celtics was guard Devin Carter. The Providence College phenom has missed the last two preseason games due to illness, however, he's still arguably the frontrunner for the Celtics' final two-way contract.
Perhaps he can play on Friday night when the C's travel south to face the rival Philadelphia 76ers as part of their preseason finale. If Boston can win then, it'll post a perfect 4-0 record and be 15-3 in preseason play since the 2023-24 season.
