BOSTON — Wednesday night was a tale of two halves for the Boston Celtics. In the first half of a home matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks, Boston shot 58.8 percent from 3-point land and jumped out to a 62-41 lead. In the second half, the C's converted on just 27.3 percent of their triples while the Bucks barely missed, hitting 10 of their 15 attempts from beyond the arc. Despite an untimely shooting decline down the stretch, the Green Team still held on for a 109-102 win, improving to 6-2 on the season and 5-0 at TD Garden.
The Celtics led by as many as 22 points on Wednesday, yet they briefly trailed in the final frame. This wasn't a complete shock, as star forward Jayson Tatum was sidelined due to rest and point guard Payton Pritchard exited the game
in the third quarter because of a right eye abrasion. Although Boston took the floor without two of its top three scorers in the fourth quarter, it still managed to do just enough to keep the Bucks at bay when it mattered most.
Celtics guard Derrick White and wing Paul George combined for 20 of the Celtics' 22 points during that pivotal stretch. They also accounted for 12 of Boston's 24 assists in a narrow win that was decided by razor-thin margins. The Celtics and Bucks nearly shot the same percentage from the field (40.7 percent to 41.2 percent) and from deep (41 percent to 40.4 percent), however, the victor attempted 6 more shots overall thanks to its 8-rebound advantage on the offensive glass.
Let's take a closer look at the most memorable moments from the tight contest captured in images below.
