It turns out that Jaylen Brown may not have requested a trade from the Boston Celtics after all. After an explosive report from former Boston big man and current broadcaster Brian Scalabrine related that the Georgia native asked out of Boston, sources representing Brown pushed back, going as far as to say the claim was "10,000 percent a lie" according to recent reporting
from ESPN contributor Kris Rhim. The Cal alum evidently never requested a trade to the Milwaukee Bucks, according to Brown's camp, with the now-Sixers forward only requesting to have some input in where he ends up once he was told he was going to be dealt to another ball club. At the same time, Scalabrine evidently felt the heat from the firestorm his words sparked, and he addressedthat
furor on the NBC Sports Boston pregame show he hosted ahead of the Celtics' blowout of the Chicago Bulls on Monday (Oct. 26) night. "To be fair, after the 48 calls I’ve fended today and I listened, he technically didn’t demand any trade," said Scal.
"I just summed it all up. I summed up the entire word salad and kept it simple," he added. "But I think that’s what got me in trouble there."
"I don’t know what the ultimatum was or the demands or whatever it was," said Scalabrine. "So he technically did not demand to be traded. It was, ‘Do these things right here or else.’"
"And one of them might have been, like, ‘Give me the $140 million extension’ (for which Brown would have been eligible this offseason). I haven’t gotten to the bottom of all of that. I didn’t even know this was going to be a thing."
