There has been as much turnover in the Boston Celtics roster this offseason, as much as at any point in recent memory. And with it, roles on the team are changing, including that of Celtics point guard Derrick White. The Colorado native shared some of his thoughts about that change and the campaign ahead with "Locked On Celtics" host John Karalis in a recent interview, sharing that he believes "every year is always a little bit different."
"Even if you have the same team, your role changes a little bit and people get better, people get more opportunities," he added. "And so figuring out what the team needs, how I can impact winning, and so that's really (what) I'm just trying to go out there and do."
"And the roles and all that other stuff, people
can figure out their own," suggested White of his Celtics teammates. Some of 'that other stuff' from last season saw the University of Colorado - Boulder alum struggle in terms of offensive efficiency, some blaming playing outside his usual role, others his age. White, however, thinks the problem had an easier explanation.
"I think I started off slow," said the Celtics guard. "And then it kind of messed with your mind and you start tweaking some things that you probably shouldn't need to tweak, and then it just snowballs into what I had."
"So I think it starts with having a good foundation, getting back to doing things that I've done my whole life and shoot with confidence after that."
