The Boston Celtics are holding part of their training camp in Charleston, South Carolina, spending time doing some serious team building by stepping outside of their usual haunts. Mandatory group yoga sessions the hotel, practices at The Citadel military college, and a lot of golfing to boot.
Second-year Celtics forward Hugo González has been a fan of the change of pace, and said(via CLNS Media) as much after a recent practice. "I think that it helps a lot," shared the Madrid native. "When you are put in different environments, basketball-wise or other (in) environment-wise, I think that helps a lot (for) being able to (adapt to) different situations."
"We're also simulating like we're already on the road, and we're already simulating what the season
is going to look like.," said González. "Long, long road trips and long days we're away from Boston."
"Obviously, you want to go home, but you also need to have this experience before the season starts to ... catch you off guard," he added. However, there was one aspect of the popular team activities González has not been as into as some of his teammates.
"I never played golf in my life," he said. "It's not really my sport, I would say; it's a sport that is really static. And for the moment, it's not for me. I like to move, as you can tell."
