If (and if we are being honest, more likely when) the NBA starts a franchise in the city of Las Vegas, Nevada, it does not sound very likely that the Boston Celtics would have to worry too much about losing reserve wing Hugo González in free agency to the Sin City ball club. The Madrid native revealed how little he enjoys one of the more popular tourist attractions in the United States during a recent guest appearanceon teammate Derrick White's "White Noise" podcast.
"I did summer league," said González while looking back to his start in the NBA at the league's 2025 Las Vegas Summer League, where the Spaniard first played for Boston in any capacity. "So, you get one week here (in Boston), then you go to Vegas."
"That is not the best experience
to go, especially if you're from Europe," suggested the former Real Madrid standout. "It's the complete opposite."
"It was so overwhelming," continued González. "I didn't like it. I came back this year, and I didn't like it either. Vegas is not it's not my city not what I not what I look for. A Vegas franchise, it would be something I would … rather to play in what people consider a bad city than to play in Vegas as a city, honestly."
Sounds like Hugo is more than okay with letting what happens in Vegas stay there, so long as he does not have to himself.
