It was not all that long ago that the Boston Celtics frontcourt situation looked to be the weakest link in an otherwise elite roster. But fast-forward from this time last year to the present, and the Celtics find themselves with one of the best big man rotations in the NBA. So much so that there is some debate over which of the Celtics several centers might get the starting nod to begin the 026-27 NBA regular season.
That dynamic only exists in the first place thanks to the success of Neemias Queta with Boston last season, and the Portuguese big was recently asked how the competition for frontcourt playing time was going in training camp between himself, Mitchell Robinson, and Luka Garza ahead of the Celtics' first of two 2026 preseason tilts
with the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday (Oct. 10) evening.
"We're getting bruised up every play, pretty much, because we're three guys that play really hard," he replied viaCLNS Media. "We know how to play at a high level. We've shown it in the past."

"Now we can pick and plug the holes for each other, you know?" he added. "And I think that's going to be important during the season. (It's a) long season, you can't really depend on just one one archetype of a player."
"I think we're going to have each other's backs (…) Having that confidence in each other and that support for each other is going to be really helpful for us, and I really like what we're doing."
