One of the things that all NBA players need to do when they join a new ball club is get to know their new teammates. And while that is exactly what new Boston Celtics big man Mitchell Robinson has been doing with the rest of the players of the team he joined this offseason, it turns out that he already knew at least one player on the team well ahead of signing with Boston this summer.
"It's been cool getting to know everybody.," said Robinson (viaCLNS Media) of the team efforts in Charleston, South Carolina to get new additions like Robinson, Mike Conley, and Paul George closer to their new teammates ahead of the 2026=27 NBA regular season.
"I was with Payton (Pritchard), actually, (at) I think, (the FIBA Under 19 tournament) or one of those,
USA," said the Celtics center. "We were roommates, actually, so I've been knowing him for a little minute now."
"But now that we're teammates in the NBA, it's a crazy ride – the journey, you know, you see so many familiar faces, and then you get to meet some new people," said Robinson.
"But, you know, I (don't) know much about (Jayson) Tatum, but (I'm) now learning (about) him, ... and it's been amazing."
