Whatever was being said in the darker corners of the NBA media ecosphere about why big man Mitchell Robinson missed his introductory press conference with the Boston Celtics, it was enough to force a response. Robinson, who was absent from said presser after his brother was hit by a car, shared some context to his absence on social media.
Evidently, his brother was irked by some of the responses once it became clear why Robinson did not make the press conference. "He told me to make a video," said the Celtics center (h/t Boston Dot Com's Khari A. Thompson). "Because he was in the comments and he, I guess, reads what people said."
"I was like ‘Bro, don’t worry about them. They’ll be alright'. They don’t have to know" he added, making it clear he was sharing
this per his brother's request.
"Can y’all go text him and offer some words of encouragement and some prayers … If y’all could do that I would truly appreciate it," continued Robinson, who confirmed it was the same brother who was in an entirely different car accident several months ago. "You can’t really make this (expletive) up, the kid has been through so much."
"I feel bad for him. He’s just had a lot going on this whole year. I hope he has a better 27th because 26 was not it for him. Ya’ll know me. I’m very big with family. When one of my siblings goes down or something happens to them – I don’t know if it’s the big brother in me or the parent in me – whatever it is, it just freaks me out."
