For the second straight season, the Boston Celtics are heading into the new NBA season without championship expectations on their shoulders. Brad Stevens has been forced to revamp Joe Mazzulla's roster as he seeks to cleanse the repeater tax and build a younger, more versatile supporting cast around Jayson Tatum for his prime years.
Unfortunately for Celtics fans, part of Stevens process meant parting ways with Jaylen Brown in a highly controversial trade that sent the All-Star forward to the Philadelphia 76ers. Couple that trades with the moves Stevens made just one year ago, where Kristaps Porzingis, Al Horford, Luke Kornet, and Jrue Holiday all left the franchise, either via trade or free agency, and it's easy to see why the Celtics are dealing
with lowered expectations.
Still, at its best, Boston should be more than capable of matching up with any team in the NBA, especially if Tatum and Paul George are healthy and playing close to their peak. With this in mind, the 'Sporting Logically' YouTube channel recently released a video dissecting the Celtics' chances of success this season and why fans and media alike are overlooking Boston as a legitimate threat in the Eastern Conference.
