Today in Boston Celtics history, Courtney Lee was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1985. After playing his collegiate basketball at Western Kentucky University, Lee was picked up with the 22nd overall pick of the 2008 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic.
The 3-and-D specialist played for the Magic, the then New Jersey Nets (now known as the Brooklyn Nets), and the Houston Rockets before the Rockets traded him to the Celtics in a massive three-team deal. This trade sent JaJuan Johnson, E'Twaun Moore, Sean Williams, and draft assets to the Rockets, while Sasha Pavlović was dealt to the Portland Trail Blazers.
The Indiana native played 108 games over 2 seasons with the team, logging 7.7 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and a steal per game.

the same day in 1985 that Jerry Sichting joined the team in a trade that sent draft assets back to the Indiana Pacers. Sichting played for the Purdue Boilermakers and was selected but waived by the Golden State Warriors with the 82nd overall pick of the draft (there were many more rounds in that era).
Picked up by Indy, the Martinsville, Indiana native played for his hometown franchise for five seasons before they dealt him to Boston, where he won a title in 1985. Sichting played three seasons for the Celtics and logged 5.9 points, 1.2 boards, and 2.4 assists per game.

Finally, Lee shares his birthday with Boston two way point guard JD Davison, who was born this day in Montgomery, Alabama in 2002. An alum of his nearby Alabama, Davison was picked up by the Celtics with the 53rd overall pick of the 2022 NBA Draft.
